I chose an article on Blender, its basics and software details because after starting our project on Blender in class, I got a bit curious about it. Due to how complicated and detailed the process can be, I feel like the outcome is very skillful and picturesque as a result. As it can be true for every other medium, I feel that especially for Blender, practice will make the product better and cleaner. Based on the article, Blender began in 1995 by a Dutch animation studio and has been free since. Surprisingly, the whole program is free, which makes it more approachable for other potential users. Moreover, looking at what Blender can create is mesmerizing because the works (based on the artist’s skills) are so cool to look at. The examples contained animation, rendering, and more, and the fact that one of the short animation films was made through Blender was amusing and also a bit inspirational. Regarding the project, hopefully my process and outcome can follow the footsteps of these good examples, or at least half of half of half of it.
Before class, I do not think I knew about Blender. Maybe I have heard of it slightly in the past, but it never stuck to my mind to the point of me remembering it. It is so cool that Blender has so many possibilities and abilities, but especially the 3D animation intrigues me the most. Modeling also seems very complicated and intricate, but the process and result are so nice. The fact that you can create a whole world, in addition to new human figures with “life”, is so cool and is a helpful skill to have. I’m again fascinated at how technology is advancing without me…
