ARTIST BIO
Hello.
My name is Grace Yoon, currently a junior double majoring in art practices and art history at University of Colorado Boulder. I have been pursuing art since I can remember, so art is an important part of my life and identity. My main focus was drawing and watercolor painting, but I always have my options open for new experiences. I have worked with a variety of mediums, and now I also stepped in to continue learning about digital art. Learning a wide range of methods and areas of studies interests me, and I hope I get to build a better knowledge of making art, allowing me to express myself in the most fitting way for me.
What influences my art the most are the actual experiences and memories I acquire throughout my everyday life. Every scene I see and words I hear become inspiration. Similarly, I want my art to touch the audiences’ own memories and feelings, and even inspire them to admire everyday beauties in different ways. In that sense, I also gain inspiration from various illustrators and the painter Claude Monet. These artists please my eye with their use of colors and textures, as well as portrayals that make me nostalgic. In addition, my Korean background also often influences the subjects I decide to represent. As a result, my works of art depict familiar topics in a subtle and light manner with light colors and a play with space. I like to record moments so they do not just pass by, and this seems to integrate into my themes of art, but truthfully, I want to keep on developing my methods to continue finding my true style of art.
