Brainstorm Blog #2

Since there is a vast multitude of sound sources to choose from, there could be a lot of different themes and ideas for this project. One idea that came to mind was making a soundscape with the concept of being in a dream. Maybe mixing different, unrelated sounds, in an incohesive manner to create that weird ambience of a dream. It could start calm, then get climatic, hit a peak sound, and maybe end with a distant alarm sound. Since a lot of things happen in your subconscious, especially when you are sleeping, the merging of unmatching sounds might be able to create that dream-like, space-y environment, where all the events are remembered jumbled after being awake. Just an idea to start with. This idea would be interesting in a sense that it doesn’t hold a specific narrative, and can be unorganized, which is distant from what I usually do. Another idea can be a soundscape on meditation and calming. This would be easier to communicate and get the thematic idea across, and if it turns out well, it would be really soothing to listen to. I could use water sounds, wind sounds, and any other sounds that do not “hurt the ear”. This idea, too, is not technically holding a narrative. If I wanted a narrative-speaking soundscape, an idea would be a day of a dog or a day in a part-time job. Some ideas like that can be made using nature sounds (for the dog) and house chore sounds (for the part-timer). As long as I can find a way to communicate it well, the dream idea would be a not-bad idea, but I am afraid I won’t make the sound’s meaning clear. If, not I will develop and work on the other potential ideas I have.
