Brainstorm Blog #1

The topic I want to make a zine on is the joy in walking. It’s definitely not that I am athletic or outdoorsy, but I do enjoy walking and admiring the scenes along the way. Like the blue sky with clouds, green trees shaking slowly in the wind, shadows, and people walking by. However, as I struggle with it too, it is difficult to look around at my own pace of time when there are places to go or things to check on my phone. My goal is not to say “get off your phone” or “don’t make plans”, but just a quiet reminder that it’s nice to look around once in a while because there are sights you can only see during a specific time of the day or the season. It would be sad to miss these beautiful pictures and not be able to remember any in the future.

This is basically where I started my thought process with. Considering the actual zine itself, I was roughly thinking of some different features: structure of the paper, extra enhancements, and cover designs. Having the zine be able to open fully horizontally might show a new illustration of the path walked when opened. A string or rubber can be added as a way to close the zine if the paper is thick. Lastly, making the title of the zine a bit hard to see right away, with a background of an everyday scene, can amplify the message of the zine, as well.

To be honest, these rough plans can always change or upgrade, but these were the themes and ways of helping the themes for my zine.
